About Sources and Numbering Systems - A Comparison
Most of us have "primary source" documentation back to our great or great-great grandfathers. Beyond that we rely on books to develop our pedigree charts. In the KF and KFA families the published sources used by most of us, and used here, are these:
1. KCL - Kauffman, Charles Fah, "A Genealogy and History of the Kauffman-Coffman Families", 1940 --- good for the KFA - Andreas family
2. AAMG86 - Gingerich, Hugh & Krieder, Rachel, "Amish and Amish Mennonite Genealogies", 1986 --- quoting KCL, pages xi to xix
3. RWD -Davis, Richard Warren, "Emigrants, Refugees, and Prisoners, Vol. 1", self published, 1995
4. MFH - Ellen Coffman article - page 198, "Mennonite Family History", October, 2006

The numbering system/letter designations used here:
1. "K" is from AAMG86 used to label the Kauffmans in Europe, before immigration.
2. "KF" is from AAMG used to label the Amish Kauffmans in America.
3. "KFA" was used in the Oct. 2006 article in "Mennonite Family History" to refer to Andreas, the immigrant of 1717. KCL designated this family as "A".
KFA-Andreas, in the chart above represents the merger: "A" represents the KCL designation, "K7112"= the "old" AAMG designation, and "KFA" represents the designation created by the writers of the Oct., 2006 article. "KFA" replaces the other two systems in this branch of the family.
